The name Kalpana Chawla holds a very special and dear place in the hearts of all the Indians and space enthusiasts alike. On February 1, 2003, Indians woke up to the news of one of the most horrific reports that plunged the entire country into grief and gloom. Kalpana Chawla, one of the most revered and loved daughters of India was killed in the disintegration of the Space Shuttle Columbia over Texas and Louisiana as it re-entered the Earth’s atmosphere killing all of the seven members aboard it. Indian-born astronaut Kalpana Chawla was one of the crews aboard the Space Shuttle. She gained recognition for being the first Indian-woman in space.
Kalpana Chawla is a role model and a constant source of inspiration for millions. She scaled to great heights from being born in Uttar Pradesh in a humble family to being the first India-woman in space. Kalpana Chawla will always be a role model and idol for young girls and women because her journey epitomizes the fact that nothing is impossible if you have the determination and the guts to pursue your dream.
We, SRMbyAG bow to the contribution of her as the first woman of Indian origin in space. She will always be remembered for her work. Tributes to Kalpana Chawla on her death anniversary.
